Ab-Soul was considered the most lyrical member of Top Dawg Entertainment. Alongside Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Jay Rock, Ab-Soul formed Black Hippy. When Ab-Soul and Top Dawg were taking over the game, Black Hippy had a lot of hype. Despite Black Hippy announcing a project, Ab-Soul told the public that they will never release an album.
Ab-Soul, as it turns out, was one of those unique kinds of rappers. There are rappers who are dope, but hardly release music to the public. Ab-Soul firmly falls into that category. As a result, Ab-Soul has a niche audience. But, Ab-Soul is a quality over quantity type of artist, anyway, so it fits.
