Eminem apologizes to his mother for “Cleaning Out My Closet” and other songs on “Headlights”
A price of fame for rappers is their albums getting leaked before the official release. In a week, Eminem will release The Marshall Mathers LP 2, but the album leaked this past week. Over the years, Eminem got into a lot of situations and his anger often got the best of him.
Eleven years ago, Eminem released The Eminem Show and he blasted his mother harsher than ever on this album. “Cleaning Out My Closet” is where Eminem aired his mother out for every mistake she ever made. This song was eventually used against him when Ja Rule used it to diss Eminem’s mother, his baby mother, and his daughter.
Slowly, Eminem has mended fences with everyone, brokering peace with Ja Rule in 2004-2005. He made peace with his anger and addiction on Recovery and now he made the long overdue peace with his mother. Nate Ruess does the singing on “Headlights” off his new album, while Eminem apologizes.
