The godfathers who opened the door for the current generation of hip hop are Eric B and Rakim. These two created a classic in Paid In Full, one of hip hop’s greatest albums. Since then, Rakim has gone on to have success as a solo artist.
In 2009, Rakim dominated with The Seventh Seal, hailed by some as the album of the year. Eager fans who wanted to see more from Rakim were disappointed. Since then, Rakim has not offered a new album, but he is putting in that work.
Eric B and Rakim called into Peter Rosenberg’s show on Hot 97. There, they talked about the sudden death of Prodigy, from Mobb Deep. Then, they announced their Paid In Full anniversary concert.
