Exotic Cars Loved by Hip Hop: Maserati

MaseratiBy Hardcore Critic
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Years ago, Maserati solidified themselves as a force in exotic cars. Perhaps a little longer than the Lamborghini, Maserati has been a dominant hip hop brand. The world first saw a glimpse of what the hip hop world was talking about when 50 Cent showed off a Maserati in the “Window Shopper” music video.

In the years since then, hip hop fans have heard lyrics from Gucci Mane about Maseratis and even saw one in Ca$h Out’s video. Over the course of the years, the rap game has seen a series of changes. The lifestyles of the rich and famous have taken over and the Maserati brand has been used to further this lifestyle.

Rappers have broadcast their lives and portrayed their fantasies through their music videos, thus giving the fantasy to others. For young children who follow hip hop, they have witnessed the exotic car being featured all in music videos and in music. Grand Hustle rapper, Young Dro released a song called Maserati and had a bit of an issue with the car.

Hip hop and the world of exotic cars entered into an odd merger. Several rappers have incorporated Maserati into their name, among them is Romeo Miller, whose nickname is Maserati. As is the case with the number of other exotic cars, simply mentioning the name of the car is no longer enough. With the car being highly-exposed, the different Maserati types are now known by the masses and many of hip hop’s elite love their Maseratis.

Maserati 1Back in September 2012, the 2013 Maserati GranCabrio MC Stradale debuted at the Paris Motor Show. It is the convertible version of the GranTurismo. Because it is a special version, the vehicle has been renamed to the GranCabrio MC Stradale. This car has yet to show up in any lyrics or music videos, but was likely referenced in Gucci Mane’s “Get Lost.”

50 Cent’s Maserati
Maserati 50 CentIn 2005, 50 Cent showed just how far he had come up. Two years prior, 50 Cent had done the impossible when he became the biggest rapper in the game. Rap success was not enough for 50 Cent though. Instead, 50 Cent likened himself as a mogul and went about expanding the roster of G-Unit Records. Showing off his affiliation with Mase, 50 Cent displayed his new lifestyle in the music video for “Window Shopper.” Proving he could buy whatever he wanted, 50 Cent famously showed off a Maserati MC12.

Tyrese Gibson’s Maserati
Evidenced by his mainstream media runs with Rev Run, Tyrese Gibson has very little commercial interest. But, Tyrese has been around for some time. A major rapper, singer, and actor, Tyrese has worked with the likes of Game and many other major entertainment names. Back in 2008, however, Tyrese did show off his Maserati, but it was in support of presidential candidate, Barack Obama.
