Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

Another week in hip hop is over, but this is a new beginning for Hip Hop Vibe. Check out the latest tweet, DJ Kid Fresh from “106 & Park” has filmed his first interview of many under the HHV regime. The outside world of hip hop has also proven interesting, as there was new music from Ja Rule.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Ja Rule fits in this new era of hip hop, which has been dealt many changes. One thing’s for sure, Hip Hop Vibe is going to be on the case, covering each facet of the game. Pusha T also leaked some snippets from My Name Is My Name that have made their way through the game.

Here in the UK, there was a major loss when Depzman was stabbed to death and hearts are heavy. But, the show is forced to go on even when it seems impossible. With that in mind, the Top Five Songs of the Week are back, as are the other DJ-led columns on Hip Hop Vibe, shout out DJ Junior for his work during Oakland Week!

See the Top Five Songs of the Week below:

Pusha T – My Name Is My Name album snippets

Mr. Push A Ton might very well have the album of the year on his hands. Raps about caine played out to most back in the 1990s, but that was when Pusha T was just getting his start in the game. Circumstances led to Pusha T having to go the non-traditional route before teaming up with Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music to release his new album. But, My Name Is My Name is coming soon and Pusha T’s album snippets leaked this week and even the pieces of each track were fire.

Ja Rule – “Eerrthang”

First, Ja Rule dropped “Fresh Out Da Pen,” a track to simply announce he was back. Then, Ja Rule proved he CAN be a part of hip hop in 2013 with “Eerrthang,” which has been featured all over the internet. Ja Rule has overcome a lot and it’s good to see him getting back on his feet and getting back to making records because the man made nothing but straight hits people! Show him some love!

Papoose – “Nosetalgia (freestyle)”

Another prominent New York rapper to come back with something new this week was Papoose. Until his Summer Jam stunt, Papoose had been out of the public eye, but Kendrick Lamar put him back in the spotlight and he has kept him there. It all came crashing down when Kendrick Lamar said he was the king of New York. Papoose has shown why he deserves that title with the way he has defended his city and he jumped on Kendrick Lamar’s appearance on Pusha T’s “Nosetalgia” this week with his own remake.

The Weeknd – Pretty

Why not include the music video if The Weeknd has one. It’s always a good thing to see an international artist make it in the hip hop industry. Seeing their success only serves as motivation to get this Streetseekers movement more involved in the US market. But, “Pretty” was another song from The Weeknd, for which the music video dropped this week and it is another one of those songs from The Weeknd, real fans know what that means.

Depzman (R.I.P.) – My Girl

It was very saddening to find out about Depzman dying. In all honesty, there’s nothing that can be done now besides to pay homage to the man. Earlier this summer, Depzman released his “My Girl” single, which is picking up a lot of traction, even before his death. Now, people can think more about the man and look back at the good music he was making.
