The Roots are one of the remaining fixtures of the old days of hip hop, having maintained their momentum well into the late 2010s, after beginning in the 1980s. They contributed to the soundtrack for the Detroit film, which stars Algee Smith. Their contribution is the song, “It Ain’t Fair,” featuring Bilal.
