Hottie of the Week: Destinee

By Lady Killa
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

For many men, the ideal woman is one who is intelligent in her own right and also beautiful. Women have spent decades trying to please men, who look for women who possess these qualities. But, over the past two decades, women find themselves doing things for their own pleasure, as opposed to trying to please a man. As evidenced in the Jamie Foxx hit, “She Got Her Own,” many men find this attractive.

It seems as if the description of the ideal woman and “She Got Her Own” were both written to describe Destinee. Both brains and beauty, Destinee is running several businesses. While handling her businesses, including the operations of Maybach Music Group Latino, Destinee has managed to do so in a graceful manner. The day-to-day of running a large company could stress anyone out.

Destinee took time out of her busy schedule to discuss her activities with Hip Hop Vibe. In the interview, she revealed information about herself, many have no idea how active she truly is.

Read the entire interview below:

You seem to be a woman who is about her business, when did you know you had a strong business mind? From the moment I became a teenager. My mother had a tough time raising my three sisters, my uncle, aunt, cousin, and myself. When I was six-years-old, my grandmother was hospitalized as a result of a gunshot wound in a dispute. The pressure she endured during the beginning years of my life up until I was a teen really took a toll on me. I knew I had to do something to better not only her life but that of my family as well.

How did you get involved with Maybach Music Latino? I became involved with Maybach Music Latino through my mentor and business partner, BaRock Urbano. He and Rick Ross have been working together for years. When Rozay asked him to be president of the label, he thought, “Who else to be Vive President of the label, but Destinee”. We’re going on ten years strong. We’ve been inseparable from day one. We practically became known as the power team in Miami early on on the game.

Explain your duties as vice president of the company? As VP of Maybach Music Latino, I oversee all of the production that comes in and material that the team puts together, collectively as well as on a solo standpoint. I’m also the first lady of the company. I sing, rap, record, and perform all of my own material.

Have you ever modeled? I’ve modeled for magazine shoots and such. I’ve never taken it on as a full-fledged career. I do enjoy it when the opportunities present themselves, nonetheless.

For seven years, you have also been running The Urban Union, right? I run The Urban Union Recording and Print alongside BaRock, as well. It is another joint venture that we took on about seven years ago. It has proven to be very lucrative considering our careers as artists.

Can you tell us more about it? At The Urban Union, we not only have a place we call home (we record all of our material in our state of the art recording facility), but we also provide a vehicle for up-and-coming artists to present their talent to the world. At The Urban Union we also do printing (i.e. flyers, CDs, business cards, t shirts, vehicle wraps, etc.), graphic design, marketing and promotions, and plenty more.
