KataxennaBy Lady Killa
Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer

There is a reason a lot of men go into business, they have an opportunity to travel the world and get paid for it. This offers them a chance to go to London and meet sexy women, such as Kataxenna Kova. She boasts an exotic look, but she was born and raised right in London.

Many have said London is one of the sexiest cities in the world. With women such as Kataxenna representing them, this suggestion is proven right. Born into a family with a diverse background, this has influenced Kataxenna’s look and her modeling. Known for her curves, Kataxenna has turned it into a positive.

Known to the world as a “whooty” model, Kataxenna recently talked to Hip Hop Vibe about her career. Featured as the latest Hottie of the Week, Kataxenna talked about a wide range of topics. During the interview, Kataxenna talked about her background growing up in Europe and her modeling.

Read the entire interview below:

Did you grow up in London, or did you move there later? I was born in Southgate, North London and grew up there (down the road from Amy Winehouse). I spent my school days miles away in Potter’s Bar in Hertfordshire, where my parents sent me to the best school they could find. My parents are of Polish, Russian, and Italian heritage and though I have lived abroad for short periods of time, London has and always will be home to me.

What is your story? How did you got in the business? I was originally approached by an agency at the age of fifteen, but was far too obsessed with music and being in bands to want to model. I was also quite shy when it came to myself, and the thought of posing in front of a camera filled me with dread. A couple of years later, I was approached to do some glamour shots before moving into fitness modelling briefly. It was something that felt alien to me to start with, but the more modeling I did, the more I enjoyed it and before long I realized that I could use it as an outlet for my creativity. That was when I started fetish modeling and working as my own stylist, hair, and makeup artist. I loved having full creative control, doing something I loved and making a living out of it!

Most models dream of going to Europe and working there, what advantages did you have being born and raised in Europe? I feel lucky to have grown up in Europe, as it’s a relatively small continent, but bursting with so much rich history and culture. Everything is within a closer proximity when you compare it to somewhere like the United States, for example, I’ve been able to shoot in Italy one day, only to fly to Germany and shoot there later that evening. I think one of my main advantages of working in Europe is that some of the best photographers and creative minds are based there.

Do you think your background fueled your diverse modeling range? My ethnic mix has meant that I have my own look as I have my mother’s Eastern European features with my father’s darker looks. There is also a hint of Eurasian heritage from my grandmother that is evident in some photos. I always felt that I looked different to the other girls in my school, who were mainly of Irish ancestry, but in the modeling world, the more unique your look, the better, and I realized that and decided to turn it into a positive and make it work for myself. I knew that as a model, I wanted to create bold, colourful work which oozes with sex appeal like David La Chapelle’s photos. I didn’t care if people thought that made me look like a pornstar, or whether it was too over the top or provocative. I guess the swimwear, bikini and lingerie shoots I do are fairly tame, but it’s in fetish modelling that I really get to have fun and wear some of the sexiest outfits like super tight latex catsuits that feel like a second skin to me.

Indeed, you do a diverse range of modeling, but do you prefer one over the others? Definitely fetish modeling! I love the beauty/make up shoots and the swimwear/bikini shoots in exotic locations but none of that compares to slipping my curves into a skin tight latex couture outfit. I love everything about it, the look, the feel even the smell of the rubber.

For those who are not up on internet slang, can you explain what “whooty” means? Basically ‘a white girl with an ass’ or should I say, booty!

With such models as the Kardashians, do you feel as if this is still rare? It’s becoming more and more common now, but I think it’s so refreshing for women to feel confident about their curves. When I was a teenager, I was so self conscious about my ass being too big and sticking out too much. I would always tie tops around my waist so they would hide it, and it was only when women like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and Beyonce came on the scene that I realized that it was beautiful to have a curvy, but toned, body.

When you are not on the job, what is it that you are doing? I spend a lot of my time studying, as I think it’s important to remember that modeling has a shelf life, and therefore I need to have a backup plan for my future. That takes up quite a lot of my time, but I can normally fit that in when I’m travelling and in between shoots. I also workout a lot and have just started capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, which combines elements of music and dance, that I have been interested for quite some time. Other than that, I spend time with the quality people in my life. It’s so easy to waste time by hanging out with negative people who want to drain you or are a bad influence, so I try to spend my free time either being productive in some way or with those I care about.

Who are some of your favorite hip hop artists? I grew up listening to a mix of various genres, but always felt that hip hop was one of the best for working out. I was listening to Immortal Technique the other day when I went for a run- it was an old album that my brother gave me but it reminded me what a great piece of work it is. I like some depth and thought to be put into the lyrics, and his are great! Some of the others that I go running to are Tempah T, Jadakiss and Talib Kweli. In London we have a genre of hip hop called grime which originated in east London and has influences of drum n bass. At first I couldn’t stand as it was completely different to the music I usually listen to, but it’s now grown on me and for it’s perfect workouts.

Is modeling in hip hop videos out of the question for you? No, I would definitely be up for that. As long as the project was right for me.
