Artists who are searching for ways to gain stardom should look no farther than 2 Chainz. Starting his career in the late 1990s as a member of DTP’s Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz took matters into his own hands, releasing a series of singles. With the release of each single, 2 Chainz gained more popularity and soon had a new deal on his hands with Def Jam.

Though he now has a joint venture with Def Jam and is working with G.O.O.D. Music, 2 Chainz reflected on his time with Ludacris during his interview with Funkmaster Flex. As Tity Boi, 2 Chainz and Dolla Boy put their money together for an independent album. The project caught the attention of Chris Luva Luva, later known as Ludacris.

Ludacris continued his work as a radio DJ, eventually starting DTP. Meanwhile, Playaz Circle continued to release independent music. Citing Master P as an influence, 2 Chainz said he and Dolla Boy sold music out the trunk of their cars. But, when Ludacris was able to set up a distribution deal, they joined his new label.
