Last week, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin finally put out the sequel to their 2016 EP, ‘Savage Mode.’ Ahead of its release, a trailer was released for the project featuring a narration from Morgan Freeman. On the album, he included more vocals, notably on the “Snitches & Rats” interlude.
Savage Mode 2 has been the hottest album in hip-hop over the past week and to no surprise, it is now the No. 1 album in the US on the Billboard 200, according to Chart Data. It sold a total of 173,000 units. Blackpink’s ‘The Album’ was No. 2 with 133,000 units. Bryson Tiller also had debuted at 59,000 units at No. 4 with his ‘Anniversary’ album.
Savage Mode 2 contained 15 tracks with features from Young Nudy, Young Thug, and Drake. Some memorable moments on the album were on “Mr. Right Now” featuring Drake when Drake claimed that he dated SZA back in 2008. She ended up clarifying that it was actually 2009. On the “Snitches & Rats” song, people thought 21 was dissing Tekashi 6ix9ine but then he explained that 6ix9ine isn’t the only rat in America.
Fans praised Savage Mode 2 as they believe 21 went hard on every record and the same was said about Metro Boomin on the production. The demand was real for this album as a petition even surfaced a few weeks before its release demanding that the two drop it ASAP.
