22-Year-Old Texas A&M Senior, Bharti Shahani, Declared Brain Dead, After Injuries Suffered, at Astroworld Festival

The list of tragic stories of people who’ve been injured and/or died at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, unfortunately continues to pile on. A 9-year-old boy is currently on life support and now, a 22-year-old senior at Texas A&M University, is also reportedly brain dead.

According to ABC 13 Houston, this is Bharti Shahani. Shahani’s family told the outlet that she initially attended the festival with her sister, Namrata Shahani, and her cousin, Mohit Bellani. They were all said to be separated, once the chaos in the crowd ensued.

Namrata and Mohit also went on to lose their cell phones, which made the ongoing situation much more severe. When Shahani sustained her injuries, she was also dealing with a heart attack. While in the ambulance, she was administered CPR, but was not effective.

Shahani’s father, Sunny, has since sadly said that Bharti’s chances of surviving are “nothing.” At this point, the family is asking for prayers, as well as a miracle.

“The doctors, they say the chances of survival are nothing, which I have not even spoken to my wife until now. We keep saying we’ll pray. I request all of Houston to pray for her. Maybe the prayers might work as a miracle for her.”

Eight people has since died, from the festival. Travis has offered to pay for the funeral services of these individuals, as well as offering others, free mental health services.
