23 pairs of Notorious B.I.G. Air Jordan 13s auctioned off

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that 23 pairs of custom Notorious B.I.G. Air Jordan 13s would be hitting the auction block, on Sotheby’s. These were initially supposed to be released in 2017, to celebrate B.I.G.’s 45th birthday. However, five years later, they’re being auctioned off, for the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. The sneakers also celebrate the Jordan year, and Michael Jordan’s jersey number.

These 23 pairs of Jordan 13s displayed an image of B.I.G. on the front of the tongue, while the back of it has lyrics from his classic 1994 “Juicy” single displayed.

As a result, these Jordan 13s were auctioned off through February 3, as bidding has officially closed. The highest bid to win, was for $32,000. The bidders were seeking a pair in a size 9.5 and 10, for $32,760 each.

Next month will mark 26 years, since The Notorious B.I.G. was shot and killed in Los Angeles. At the time, he was only 24-years-old. Only two studio albums were released by him, including “Life After Death,” a few weeks after his murder. However, both albums are regarded as classics, as well as B.I.G. being viewed as one of the best artists of all-time.
