Controversy sells, as evidenced by 50 Cent. Even before he became a well-known artist, 50 used controversy to gain publicity for himself. Early in his career, 50 Cent made a name for himself from dissing Jay-Z. Within a few years, 50 Cent began a true beef with Jay-Z’s former right-hand man, Ja Rule. The feud between the Queens rappers has yet to come to an end.
50 Cent used his issues with Ja Rule to force his way into the rap game, the issues even led to feuds with other artists, as sides were taken. Once he felt his job was done with Ja Rule, 50 moved on to feuds with Fat Joe and Jadakiss. By 2007, 50 Cent had a new rival in Cam’ron, and declared himself the winner early on.
However, the tide shifted in 2009, when Rick Ross played the same game, effectively winning a lyrical battle with 50 Cent. Now, Rick Ross is among the biggest names in the game, as 50 Cent has had trouble securing a true release date for his forever upcoming album. In 2011, 50 Cent promised his fans he would release a new project before the end of the year. Despite this promise, Interscope Records did not reveal a new album from 50 Cent, prompting him to release The Big 10 on his own.
Yesterday, 50 Cent revealed he has lost all faith in Interscope Records and he will not be supporting the next project released by him under the label. Completing his project with Interscope Records, 50 Cent will release the new album and then he will be focusing on the new film he has in the works. 50 Cent also made a post on Twitter, revealing he does not believe he will live much longer. After making the post, 50 Cent denied being suicidal, he simply was stating he felt life was short, particularly his.
