50 Cent strikes plea deal over domestic violence suit and will do three years of community service
Most assumed 50 Cent had left all his legal troubles in the past, as in Power of the Dollar days. Still, somehow his past cannot fully escape him and some of the things he hypothetically mentioned on “So Disrespectful” came to life. In the third verse off the song, 50 Cent raps about giving a woman money for their child and her blowing it.
Daphne Joy was revealed to be this woman when 50 Cent ended up assaulting her over the summer. Over the summer, 50 Cent was charged with five counts of domestic assault after getting into a tense situation with her. Initially, 50 Cent pleaded not guilty to the charges, but agreed to plea no contest to one count of vandalism.
In doing this, 50 Cent has avoided five years in prison and a $46,000 fine. Instead, he has three years of community service, counseling, and a $7,000 fine. While not exactly off the hook, 50 Cent is not giving Ja Rule the opportunity to get the last laugh over prison and his lawyer, Scott Leemon, released a statement.
Read Scott Leemon’s statement below:
“We’re glad that the domestic charge was dismissed, and he took this agreement just to put the whole matter behind him and get on with his life.”
