Not many people are aware of how vast the hip hop scene in North Carolina is. Outside of the people on the scene who are doing their thing, many major figures are from here. These people include co-creator of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Samm-Art Williams and Nick Cannon.

Many other figures in hip hop have moved here, including Big Daddy Kane and Christopher “Play” Martin. They have begun playing an instrumental role in North Carolina’s hip hop scene. Recently, “Play” came to Fayetteville State University for their first Hip Hop Summit.

Christopher “Play” Martin was joined by 9th Wonder and Foxy 99 personalities, G Moniy and Tommy Gee. The panel was moderated by a student mediator, who fielded questions from 9th Wonder and Play. After the Q&A, in which they talked to all of the students in attendance, they went on to discuss the evolution of hip hop and how the industry is set up.
