It’s funny how nobody notices the gradual changes, they just notice once something is changed. Eleven years ago, Mims pointed out how the game changed. He rapped “I can sell a mil saying nothing on a track” and people jumped down his throat.

But, Mims was only saying the quality of rap is all but nonexistent, and this is what rappers are doing. Instead, Mims became known for being a part of the problem. As such, rappers like A$AP Rocky are considered a part of the same ilk.

Recently, A$AP Rocky sat down for an interview with Forbes, where his words were taken out of context. He, too, was talking about how rap’s quality has declined, calling the game “wack.” Describing the current era of rap, A$AP Rocky said that rappers don’t even need to rap, all they need is a ghostwriter.
