Ah Oh! Black Twitter Reacts to Finding Out That a White Woman Curates the Hip Hop Exhibit at the National Museum Of African American History and Culture
Black twitter is up in arms today after finding out that Timothy Anne, a white woman, was the curator of the Hip-Hop exhibit at the National Museum Of African American History and Culture.
DJ Chubb E Swagg tweeted:
THERE IS A WHITE WOMAN CURATING THE HIP HOP PART OF THE NMAAHC SMITHSONIAN?!?!?!?!?!?!? WHO LET THIS SHIT HAPPEN!?!?!

Soon after, everyone was wondering how exactly did this happen.
One twitter user wrote:
“A White woman has no business curating anything Hip Hop at the NMAAHC museum and it’s irresponsible to do so given the course of African American History in America
Would they let an African American curate the survivor diaries in a Holocaust exhibit?
Hip hop is our diary.”

While a lot of celebrities like Chuck D and Symone Sanders have come forward to show support for Timothy, everyone else wants to know why wasn’t a person of color chosen to curate the exhibit.
Are people reaching or should a black person have been the one to curate the exhibit?
Take a look at some of the twitter reactions below.
He didnt say Timothy Anne wasn't qualified. He asked if there was an equally qualified Black person to do the job.
Whew this convo got some of yall looking HELLA funny in the light.

I don’t know the white woman curating the hip hop section in the NMAAHC, but I hear she is knowledgeable, respected, and an ally.
But question is, wouldn’t a true ally feel it’s not their place to take a role such as that?
As a straight male, I wouldn’t curate an LGBTQ exhibit.

Blue check black twitter formed up like voltron to protect a white woman curator for the NMAAHC lol I guess man.

The museum and art space is SUPERRRRRRRR white. So I don’t care if the entire NMAAHC staff was black from top to bottom, it would NEVER equalize the disproportionate imbalance we see in the art and museum world. Ever.

It is weird to see chuck d and 9th wonder caping for a white lady to be the head of hip hop at the NMAAHC lol. Of all niggas in hip hop the white lady the best qualified lol

Am I really watching people who are invested in racial justice saying hiring a white curator of hip-hop at the NMAAHC is okay because she’s qualified? That can’t be happening, right?!?!!

I wish more Black American people were comfortable in saying that Black Americans should be in control of our cultural spaces. There is no reason questioning why a white woman was chosen for the hip hop exhibit at NMAAHC should have drawn this much ire
