Recently, Andre 3000 spoke on his situation with Outkast with GQ. In 2010, Big Boi released his debut album with Def Jam. The album did not feature an appearance from his other half, Andre 3000. When Big Boi made his media rounds, he explained how the upcoming Outkast project was blocked by their label and how they refused to allow Andre 3000 to collaborate on his debut album.
After building momentum during the closing months of 2011, Andre 3000 decided to release his own solo album. During his GQ interview, he echoed the statements made by Big Boi two years earlier. However, many fans took the information as Outkast breaking up. In the interview, Andre 3000 was asked if there was an Outkast album in the works. During his interview with The Fader, Andre 3000 explained it, saying their label has not scheduled a release date for them, so no album is in the works.
While there is no Outkast album planned, Andre 3000 acknowledged next year will be the twentieth anniversary of Outkast and how blessed they are to still be relevant.
