Anthony Davis will be out for a month due to recent ankle injury

Anthony Davis was the first overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft. At the time, AD was predicted to transform any team into a future contender. When he landed with the New Orleans Hornets, Davis was filling the void left by Chris Paul, who left via trade a year earlier. While the eventual New Orleans Pelicans had some success, Davis only led them to two playoff appearances in seven years. As a result, AD forced a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anthony Davis leaving New Orleans for Los Angeles mirrored the Chris Paul situation. As Davis left, New Orleans landed the first overall pick, this time landing Zion Williamson. However, AD had immediate success, helping the Lakers win the 2020 NBA championship over the Miami Heat. Outside of the title, the Lakers have been a very mediocre team, though. A hot 2021 start ended with the Lakers falling into the play-in. Meanwhile, Zion’s Pelicans have gradually improved every season, and are now contenders.

Anthony Davis, to his credit, took charge of the Lakers, after their slow start. Behind Davis’ MVP-level play, the Lakers won eight out of ten games. Along the way, they began playing like title contenders. However, an injury to LeBron James slowed the team. After that, they beat the Denver Nuggets, but AD hurt his ankle. Now, further reports have said that Davis will now miss a month of action, as a result of his injury.
