Anthony Hamilton is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. Actually, he was one of the first artists to put the city on the map. In 2002, he put the city on the map, when Nappy Roots turned to Anthony for the hook on “Po’ Folks.” Being clear, Anthony Hamilton was around long before then. However, that feature was the one that made him a household name. Twenty-two years later, Hamilton has his own label, which is called My Music Box, and JXHines is the first artist. Both spoke to Hip-HopVibe about the deal.

Anthony Hamilton has numerous memorable songs and many hooks. However, his claim to fame is his hit single, “Charlene,” which peaked in 2004. That song is his most-recognizable record, although he has many hits under his belt. Not only does Anthony Hamilton often perform in front of sold out crowds, but he’s also prone to show up on television. In 2015, he was one of many artists to make a cameo on the hit series, “Empire.”

Anthony Hamilton is always working and JXHines is a part of his latest work. Hamilton signed JXHines to My Music Box, his new label. Both guys sat down with Hip-HopVibe’s Brittney O for an exclusive interview at Essence Fest. While JXHines discussed his new music, Anthony Hamilton spoke on so much more. With Anthony Hamilton, music is always a discussion, as he broke down his hip hop roots. But his new business may also pique interest.
