Ashanti was asked if she would participate in BET’s “The Murder Inc. Story,” this summer. In response, she scoffed, which meant she was not going to be a part of it. Ahead of the series, Irv Gotti went on “Drink Champs,” and aired out all of his drama with Ashanti. As a result, Irv was met with a lot of backlash. After remaining quiet, Ashanti is now telling her side of the story.

Ashanti helped solidify Murder Inc. Records as a powerhouse, in 2002. Previously, Ja Rule was the only artist on Murder Inc. to even release an album. When Ashanti debuted, she was the first artist in history to have their debut single reach number one on Billboard Hot 100. After that, she was the fastest artist to go platinum with their debut album. For a time, it seemed like Ashanti and Ja Rule would reign forever.

Ashanti and Irv Gotti have faced rumors of an intimate relationship, dating back to 2007. Back then, instead of working with Murder Inc., Ashanti decided to put her last album with the label together on her own. As a result, there were no Ja Rule collaborations, and there was a missed opportunity to create more hits. Years later, Irv Gotti showed his resentment, as he made claims of having an affair with Ashanti, going into unnecessary details about it. Finally, Ashanti is telling her side, during a sit down with Angie Martinez, where she accuses Irv of lying.
