Ashanti dominated the early 2000s music, alongside her current boyfriend, Nelly. Years after their time on top of the charts, Ashanti and Nelly began dating. However, in real time, it looked like Kelly Rowland was the R&B chick he was going to have endgame with. But, Nelly wanted a second chance with Ashanti so badly that he crashed Fat Joe and Ja Rule’s Verzuz just to see her. Ever since, they’ve locked back in, and now they’re a couple. Yesterday, they partied and Ashanti sang Nelly’s biggest hit to him.
Ashanti rose to fame singing the hooks on some of Ja Rule’s biggest songs. During the early 2000s, both of them broke radio records for Def Jam. They had the biggest hits on the radio, sharing this distinction, alongside Nelly. The year of 2000 saw Nelly release his debut album and go diamond. With his radio records, he ended up top of Billboard Hot 100. During the summer of 2002, Nelly’s “Dilemma” was the biggest rap ballad not performed by Ashanti and Ja Rule.
Ashanti appears to be completely in love with Nelly, and vice versa. The two dated in the late 2000s, before breaking up in 2013. Back then, Ashanti hinted that Nelly was the reason for their breakup. After that, she made it difficult for him to get her attention. She said, at the time, that she was seeing somebody. But, now she’s got the old thing back. That said, Ashanti was in the club, singing to Nelly, repeating Kelly Rowland’s famous “Dilemma” line, “you don’t know what you mean to me.”
