Atlanta D.A. will reportedly offer plea deals to more indicted YSL members, to improve chances of convicting Young Thug

Atlanta D.A. to offer YSL plea deals to take down Young Thug

Last week, Gunna was able to be released from jail, amid the ongoing YSL RICO case. This comes after pleading guilty to one count of RICO conspiracy. As a result, he received a 5-year sentence. One in jail was credited, and the rest is a 4-year suspended sentence. YSL members Slimelife Shawty and Lil Duke also copped plea deals, in addition to YSL Co-Founder Walter Murphy. They all admitted that YSL is a gang, contrary to others initially claiming just to be a record label.

However, even more YSL members may receive plea deals. At the time of the initial 56-count indictment in May, Young Thug, Gunna and 26 other members were included. According to Atlanta investigative journalist George Chidi, these plea deals may be offered to every other YSL member, in an attempt to fully convict Young Thug.

“My read here is that the DA will deal out (almost) everyone else if it means improving their chances of convicting Young Thug,” Chidi reported on Twitter. The operating philosophy as described to me by a ADA is to ask ‘absent this person, would this crime still happen?’ If the answer is yes, cut a deal. If the gang targeted someone for shooting, who pulled the trigger is less important to Willis’ office than who turned on the green light.”

As a result, the D.A believes that Thug is the “shot-caller” of the crimes committed by YSL. He and Murphy both founded YSL together, back in 2012. YSL’s crimes are also being investigated back to 2012.
