AutoZone looted amid street takeover in LA, suspect arrested
In a startling event early Monday morning, a street takeover in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. It spiraled into a looting frenzy at a nearby AutoZone. Dozens of looters were captured on video breaking into the store. This followed a street takeover at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Hoover Street around 4 a.m.
The Los Angeles Police Department received reports of the takeover. After that, calls began pouring in about the looting incident. Approximately 50 individuals were seen prying open a metal security gate. Also, smashing a glass door to gain entry into the AutoZone.
Video footage showed a man in a red hoodie, his face obscured, among the looters carting away merchandise. This included a car battery. The aftermath revealed auto parts strewn across the store’s entrance. As a result, evidence of the frenzied raid.
As officers arrived on the scene, they engaged in a brief pursuit of a vehicle fleeing the location. The chase extended onto the freeway with assistance from the California Highway Patrol. Ultimately, it concluded with the suspect’s arrest on Pepper Street and East Sycamore Avenue in El Segundo.
“The swift response from law enforcement helped apprehend one suspect involved in the looting,” a police spokesperson stated.
