Many future legends came into the game at the same time and the mid-1990s saw several. Among the future legends was AZ, Nas, and Jay-Z, although there were many others who made major impacts. An issue some fans have with the legends is that they won’t give their real opinion on current hip hop.
AZ is one artist who is more than willing to keep it honest when it comes to his feelings about the music. There was a time when music was an authentic place where artists could vent through their work. But, the game has evolved a long way since then and it’s not necessarily better.
Forbez DVD caught up with AZ today and he was asked about the current state of the music scene. While he is still primarily focused on his own work, AZ did take time off to give his opinion on things. It’s quite simple, AZ feels hip hop has become more about making money than real substance in music.
