After his departure from Cash Money Records, B.G. had become a stable and marketable solo act. In 2002, he left the label in favor of his own Chopper City Records. At a slow rate, he built the label and soon began releasing new music. Building off of each album, B.G. was on pace to become a star in his own right.
From 2003 until 2006, he released an album every year. Along the way, though, his music became more of the same. He had not taken the proper time to sit back and analyze the game. As a result, his music was seeing a sharp decline. Still, his airplay was building, especially after his T.I. collaboration and his “Make ‘Em Mad” single.
It was obvious that B.G. was still bitter about the Cash Money situation. In 2008, he reached out to Lil Wayne and they finally ended their long-standing feud. Soon, speculation rose about a Hot Boyz reunion album between B.G., Lil Wayne, and Juvenile. During this time, B.G. took a break from releasing new solo music.
Now, B.G. is ready to release his next album, Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood. It has been a three-year hiatus, but the New Orleans rapper is promising the best album that he has ever created. With this new album he has reunited with the likes of Lil Wayne and Juvenile. He has also worked with Mannie Fresh and others for the album.
B.G.’s Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood will be released on December 8, 2009 on Chopper City Records and Atlantic Records.
