Earlier today, B.G. received among the worst possible news when he was sentenced to fourteen years in prison. The New Orleans emcee was facing charges from weapons possession back in 2009 and stood trial today. B.G. now joins a growing list of rappers who are headed to prison, as Beanie Sigel was recently sentenced for tax evasion.

Already in prison is Ja Rule and fellow Louisiana rapper, Lil’ Boosie has just been released from prison. B.G. began his career alongside Lil Wayne, who spent time in prison in 2010, Juvenile, and Turk as a member of the Hot Boyz. The group was signed to Cash Money Records and they made numerous hits in the late 1990s.

Contract disputes led to B.G. leaving the label and the group. Following tough years, Cash Money turned things around, with Lil Wayne moving to the top of the rap game. Now there are several labels under Cash Money, which house such artists as Ace Hood, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Bow Wow, and Mystikal, only naming a few.

Earlier today, however, XXL reported one of the old school Cash Money stars would be spending fourteen years in prison.
