For most of 2011, B.o.B. had remained relatively quiet. Early in 2010, B.o.B. emerged onto the hip hop scene, making a home for himself on the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100. Following the success of his debut, The Adventures of Bobby Ray, B.o.B. had been relatively forgotten. During the summer of 2011, imprisoned Grand Hustle boss, T.I., began preparing for his prison release. Announcing a new project, T.I. released a single called “We Don’t Get Down Like Y’all,” which featured B.o.B.

While the song brought a little buzz back to B.o.B., fans would not hear from the Atlanta rapper again until he returned with an announcement. Preparing his album for a late 2011 release, B.o.B. said his first single would feature Lil Wayne. The song was eventually titled “Strange Clouds” and it went on to become a minor hit for the rapper. Weeks later, B.o.B. announced a full-length album, which would also be titled Strange Clouds.
