Among the new energy coming into the New York hip hop scene is Bas, who is a native of Queens. He represents the new generation of artists in the birthplace of hip hop and his deal comes courtesy of J. Cole. After establishing his deal with Roc Nation, J. Cole went on to launch Dreamville Records.
Bas made a name for himself with his mixtape releases, but his major splash into the industry came last month. His latest project is Last Winter, the EP that is based on the long winter nights he spent recording in his parents’ basement. The new project is still making its rounds.
MTV News’ Nadeska Alexa visited Bas’ home in Queens to do an in-depth feature on the Last Winter recording. Bas showed the studio off where he recorded the project and he discussed the theme of the release. The interview shows Bas in his element, working on his newest release.
