Yesterday, hip hop fans discovered Beanie Sigel would soon be heading back to prison, following a seven year hiatus. Much like many urban entertainers before him, Beanie Sigel is being sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion. Other rappers to go down for this charge include Ja Rule, who is currently in prison for a gun and drug violation.
Before he was given his prison sentence, Beanie Sigel was making great strides in reviving his rap career. Five years have passed since the last Beanie Sigel album was released. After the album was released, Roc-A-Fella Records officially disbanded. Once the label effectively ended, Beanie Sigel became an independent artist.
Beanie Sigel recently established a distribution deal with EMI Records and is fresh off the release of his Broad Street Empire mixtape. However, Beanie Sigel is now preparing to release an album. Instead of EMI, the album will come on Ruffhouse Records, released on the same day as fellow Philadelphia emcee, Meek Mill, on August 28.
The name of the album is This Time.
