Roc-A-Fella Records made hip hop history in the late 1990s and the early 2000s. The success Roc-A-Fella enjoyed made everyone on the team very rich. Many felt Damon Dash and Jay-Z were well on their way to being the youngest black billionaiers. However, by the early 2000s, friction was evident in the crew.

Many credit the official split between Jay-Z and Damon Dash to the addition of Cam’ron and his Diplomats to the label. Jay-Z was preparing to retire and Damon Dash wanted to appoint Cam’ron as the new head of the company. At the time, Jay-Z was preparing to take over the head position at Def Jam.

Beanie Sigel initially sided with Damon Dash before returning to Roc-A-Fella Records, a move many questioned. After pledging his allegiance to Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel began issuing an onslaught of disses toward Jay-Z. However, with their feud in the past, Beanie Sigel spoke about the Roc-A-Fella demise with Global Grind.
