The motto at BET is “We Got You” and, in 2016, they have more than done their part for the music lovers. Tonight was the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards and DJ Khaled hosting was everything. He brought the energy and the cyphers were on point.

Snooop Dogg took home the highest honor and passed the baton to the new generation. Guys like Dave East got their shine, alongside Young M.A., Desiigner, and the others. Then, veterans such as Gucci Mane, Remy Ma, and Beanie Sigel got to enjoy their comeback.

Kendrick Lamar won the award true hip hop heads love the most, as Big K.R.I.T. and Lecrae gave their take on the social injustice. Then, DJ Khaled won Twitter with his performance with Betty White. Gucci Mane rocked the crowd with Travis Scott, Quavo, and Young Thug.

T.I. continued with the #BlackLivesMatter protest with his “We Will Not” performance. DJ Khaled and Sway had a moment and there was so much more. Twitter has six or seven trends about the BET Hip Hop Awards, which is proof that BET really is living up to the “We Got You” motto.
