Beyonce announces pregnancy at 2011 MTV Video Music Awards
For years, there have been rumors of Beyonce being pregnant with Jay-Z’s child. With Jay-Z getting older, most stories said Jay wanted a child, while Beyonce did not. Years ago, Beyonce said she would wait when her career was less hectic to have a baby.
Last year, there were rumors of Beyonce carrying Jay-Z’s child, but they were diffused. Jokingly, Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, announced she was pregnant. However, so eager for a story, several media outlets picked it up and ran with it.
Tina Knowles denied the pregnancy rumors, but said she had told her son-in-law she wanted more grandchildren. One year later, she knows her wish is on the way. In many of his later raps, Jay-Z speaks of wanting to become a parent.
On his Kingdom Come album, Jay-Z raps about his unborn child on “Lost One.” Jay-Z jokes about fathering a child with Free, formerly of “106 & Park,” on “Trouble” off the album. There are rumors of there being several Jay-Z spawns out there. However, the first official child by Shawn Carter was announced tonight at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, as Beyonce said she was finally pregnant.
