What’s ironic about the Kanye West/Taylor Swift beef is that it started over Beyonce. This is the forgotten fact that only longtime VMA viewers know about. The year was 2009 and this was when Jay Z performed “Empire State of Mind” for the first time with Alicia Keys.

A lesser-remembered controversial moment from that show came when Lil’ Mama interrupted Jay Z’s performance by walking on stage. But, what has lived on is Kanye vs. Taylor. The two briefly made peace, meanwhile Beyonce has made history.

Arguably, the Lemonade album is the most-successful of all-time. But, a major victory came when Beyonce won Video of the Year for “Formation,” no snub this time. She won the Video of the Year and her fans, the #BeyHive, are celebrating this win all over Twitter.
