This month, social media has been rallying in an attempt to achieve justice, for 23-year-old Lauren Smith-Fields. In December, she went on a date with an 37-year-old Matthew LaFountain. LaFountain later told police that she was found dead in a beat.

It was later claimed by authorities, that Smith-Fields of fentanyl, promethazine, hydroxyzine and alcohol. Many simply aren’t buying that though, and believe that LaFountain played a huge role in taking Smith-Fields’ life.

Cardi B has since used her platform to speak on this case, and it thankfully resulted in a criminal investigation being opened. Now, BIA is also speaking out. According to TMZ, BIA bet with Smith-Fields’ family attorney, Darnell Crosland.

Crosland told TMZ that BIA has been using her platform to raise awareness, for Smith-Fields’ case. The rapper also plans to meet with the family soon. BIA and her manager had this meeting with Crosland, in Smith-Fields’s home state of Connecticut. BIA reportedly said this situation hit home for her, and believes that speaking out is the right thing to do, in this situation.

BIA hasn’t met with the Smith-Fields family yet, due to wanting to let them grieve first. At this point though, celebrities such as herself and Cardi have definitely done a great job, in raising awareness for this case.

BIA had a massive breakout 2021, with her “Whole Lotta Money” single. The remix, featuring Nicki Minaj, also went on to dominate, that summer. Her last project came in December 2020, with her “For Certain” EP.
