The constant debate on who is the best rapper is a discussion that will always be relevant. As the sound of music changes throughout the decades, so does the variation of music artist. In 2023 alone, more than 100+ new music artist made their way to fame. Despite the uprise of new talent, the gift of longevity and creativity still reigns supreme when comparing the influence of an artist. On a new episode of Drink Champs rap legend Big Daddy Kane gave his input on who his favorite rapper is, naming J. Cole. He went on to explain the impact of J. Cole, putting him over Kendrick Lamar as a talented lyricist. Big Daddy Kane also referenced a line from a controversial freestyle J. Cole performed on Power 107’s LA Leakers radio show.

When it comes to hip-hop legends Big Daddy Kane is easily a top five name to list. Often credited as one of the most influential and skilled Mc’s in hip-hop, his music and opinion will always hold incredible weight. Taking over hip-hop and rap music since 1987, Big Daddy Kane is known for hits like “Raw,” “Aint No Half Steppin,” and his biggest single “It’s a Big Daddy’s Thing.” Big Daddy Kane also brought street fashion into the mainstream, with his influence of velour suits, hightop fades and four finger rings. Although Big Daddy Kane has slowed down on music, he hasn’t stopped paying attention to the way hip-hop has changed. In the interview he also mentions how he met Jay-Z along with other memorable celebrity stories. Hopefully a collaboration between J. Cole and Big Daddy Kane happens in the near future.
