The thing about hip hop is that everybody is able to soak in some game from those who came before him. While Jay-Z did his thing and took the game to new heights, Big Daddy Kane helped open that door. A lot of the early Jay-Z style was influenced by Kane.

Furthermore, nearly every rapper was inspired, one way or another, by both Big Daddy Kane and Rakim. Sadly, the current era of rap barely resembles their heyday. Even worse, many of the younger generation don’t even know who Kane is.

Big Daddy Kane was recently on “Drink Champs,” with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. This year marks the 30 year anniversary of Long Live The Kane, which started his career. He shared memories, including backstage of a Slick Rick concert, and much more.
