At the end of countless album delays, Big K.R.I.T. finally returned with his long-awaited debut album, Live From the Underground. Well-known as a mixtape rapper, Big K.R.I.T. was used to putting out projects on his own with no interference. All of this changed when Big K.R.I.T. signed with Def Jam.

While Big K.R.I.T. is now a major-label artist, he is still a dominant force on the mixtape level. What made Big K.R.I.T. famous and successful in the first place was the mixtapes and he does not want to lose that element of his game.
