The Black Mafia Family, better known as BMF, became a household name in the hip hop game, when Rick Ross shouted them out on his “B.M.F.” single. Already, Big Meech, the head of the Black Mafia Family, had a realtionship with Young Jeezy, who also mentions the crew in his lyrics, periodically. It was the “B.M.F.” single that led to the feud between former friends, Young Jeezy and Rick Ross.

Rick Ross’ rise to the top of the game occurred when former standout, T.I., was serving time in prison. T.I. had been on the rise since 2003, making hit records, but truly became a force in the game in 2008. At the height of his career, T.I. was sentenced to a year in prison and his buzz fizzled. Released in 2009, T.I. was arrested in 2010, as he was putting the finishing touches on his comeback album.

While he has served two prison sentences within a year of each other, T.I. only served a portion of what he was sentenced both times. Because of this, there are many who feel T.I. has become an informant. In his lyrics, T.I. often raps of being a thug and the code he lives by. There are many T.I. detractors who feel he has gone against this code in order to gain freedom, yet still rapping about “the life.” Big Meech, the head of the Black Mafia Family, has taken offense to those who feel this way about T.I. and wrote a letter in response.

Read Big Meech’s letter below:

“There is no person in the Federal or State system that can say or saying that “T.I. Clifford Harris” snitched on them. I’m tired of people spraying his name when his plea deal and sentencing transcripts is “ONLINE.” You pay $40 to get on “Pacer” and you have access to all court documents on any person in the “UNITED STATES.”
