Big Scarr reportedly passed away due to overdose of pain pills

On Thursday, tragic news broke that 1017 Records rapper Big Scarr suddenly passed away. He was only 22-years-old and one of the hottest rising rappers out of Memphis. At the time, Scarr’s cause of death was unclear.

However, more information surrounding Scarr’s death is receiving more updates. According to TMZ, Scarr’s uncle, Arthur Woods, says that he overdosed from prescription pain pills. This occurred while being at his girlfriend’s home.

Scarr’s uncle added that he still doesn’t know how he was able to get these pills. He did cite that he’s gone through various traumatic experiences, though, such as a shooting and car accident. Scarr was also dealing with a concerning form of depression. As of now, police are investigating his death.

Scarr had been on his way up as an artist, since 2020. He signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 label, and made a name for himself. In April 2021, Scarr put out his “Big Grim Reaper: The Return” mixtape. He collaborated with Gucci, Pooh Shiesty, Offset, and more on that project. Gucci spoke on Scarr’s passing last night, as he said that this news hurts, and that he’ll miss him.
