Out of all the new artists who debuted in 2011, Big Sean probably had the biggest and most-lasting impact on hip hop. Of course, being signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music did not hinder his ascent into the rap game. Big Sean had been backburnered for two years, but when he was given his time to shine, Big Sean made the most of it.

Since the early 2011 release of his Chris Brown-assisted single, “My Last,” Big Sean has released a string of hit singles. His infectious tone and his unique lyrical ability has made Big Sean a favorite amongst fans. If Big Sean does not have a song on the radio, he is featured on a song on the radio and has quickly become one of the biggest rappers in the game.

Because of his style, many forget Big Sean is from Detroit. The Detroit hip hop scene has been labeled by the style of Eminem, his D12 crew, and his label, Shady Records. Previously, Big Sean has discussed this, saying Detroit has many styles. Quickly becoming one of hip hop’s collaboration kings, Big Sean has been hanging out with Royce da 5’9 and learned, through him, Eminem wants a meeting with him.

For Big Sean, it is incredible because he grew up listening to Slim Shady.
