At the age of nineteen, Big Sean signed to G.O.O.D. Music and Kanye West took him under his wing, taking him everywhere. With his career starting to launch, Big Sean already found himself in the vicinity of Jay-Z. Instead of relying on his veteran connections, the rising Detroit rapper put out independent releases.

Early in 2011, Big Sean began promoting his debut album, Finally Famous: The Album, which would top charts in the summer. It all started, on a mainstream level, for Big Sean with his “My Last” single with Chris Brown. The success of Big Sean led to the joint venture deal Kanye West signed with Def Jam for G.O.O.D. Music.

Last year, Big Sean’s stock rose highly after the release of “Clique.” Big Sean revealed he had the Hit-Boy produced song for months. While at ASCAP’s “I Create Music” expo, Big Sean spoke on Jay-Z hearing the song and wanting to get on it. Changing everything around, Big Sean also placed Kanye West on the track.
