Like many superstars who came before him, Big Sean feels his run should have started years ago. After signing with G.O.O.D. Music in 2008, Big Sean was led to believe his Finally Famous debut would be released in 2009. However, the album was met with delays throughout 2009 and 2010, with the album not surfacing until 2011. Led by the “My Last” single with Chris Brown, Big Sean enjoyed a quick rise to the top.
One year after his “My Last” single became a hit, Big Sean is still riding the wave of his debut album, as his “Dance” single and its Nicki Minaj-assisted remix is still in rotation. Many hip hop publications crowned Big Sean as one of 2011’s breakout stars. Before his debut year was over, Big Sean was already telling many of these outlets about his next album.
MTV, like many other mainstream media outlets, have taken notice to Big Sean. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper was included in their annual “Hottest MCs in the Game” countdown. Big Sean was initially given the number nine position, but he was eventually moved to number eight. Recently, Big Sean discussed both his buzz and his placement with Power 106’s, L.A. Leakers.
