Since they made their mainstream debut, few days have gone by without Cash Money Records dominating the headlines. Recent years have seen an erosion of talent from the label. With DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes, Tyga, and Ace Hood gone, Young Money is trying to leave.

Lil Wayne has been very vocal since 2014 about demanding his freedom from the label. In response, Birdman did an in-depth interview with Angie Martinez in Miami about the situation. Despite their losses, the label has added AR-AB, Compton Menace, and Trev Rich.

This morning marked the Trev Rich signing, but Birdman is facing more scrutiny. Although his “Empire” debut is around the corner, after he released his 21,000 page affidavit, accounting for his spending, Lil Wayne’s team isn’t convinced. While Birdman claims $70 million out of the $100 million was spent on royalties, marketing, and promotion, Wayne maintains he and his Young Money label, home to Drake and Nicki Minaj, never saw a dime.
