Black man attacked by White men in Montgomery AL
Montgomery, Alabama is home of the riverboat ride, but it was home to unnecessary violence, this past weekend. A security guard approached the boaters, telling them they needed to move their boats. As a result, the men turned on the guard and began to beat him. An increasing number of people pounced on the security guard. However, a group of Black men saw the White men ganging up on the Black security guard, and stepped in.
The state of Alabama has a history that is checkered, to say the least. Over the years, the state has had a history of not being the friendliest place for members of every race. So when a situation like what happened at Montgomery’s riverboat happens, many jump to the conclusion of there being undertones of racial discrimination. However, this story ended differently from most stories that have a beginning like this.
In Alabama, a security guard working at Montgomery’s riverboat ride ended up in a battle for his life. He was doing his job, telling the boaters they needed to move their boat. However, the White men he told to do this began to gang up on and beat the man, who happened to be Black. Fortunately, he had some people on his side. A group of Black men saw what was going on, so they jumped in to help the security guard, and the situation has gone viral.
