Bronx Club Shooting: Woman shot for refusing dance

Bronx club shooting woman shot for refusing dance

In a troubling incident early Monday at a Bronx after-hours club, a 20-year-old woman was shot after declining a dance offer. The shooting occurred on E. 165th St. near Hoe Ave. in Longwood at about 3 a.m.

According to police, the man, wearing a white shirt and white baseball cap, asked the woman to dance. When she refused, he left briefly, only to return and open fire, hitting her leg and both elbows.

The victim managed to reach Jacobi Hospital by herself, where she received treatment and was later released. As of now, the gunman, referred to as “El Barrio,” remains at large, with no arrests made in the case.

Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect. They are asking anyone with information to come forward to help in their investigation.

This incident has sparked conversations around personal safety and gun violence, especially in nightlife settings. It also raises concerns about how rejection can sometimes lead to violent retaliation.

Community members are concerned, as this adds to the growing incidents of violence in nightlife areas. The police are working to ensure the perpetrator is apprehended quickly to prevent any further incidents.
