Houston hip hop proved to be more than a passing fad due to the efforts of such figures as UGK and OG Ron C. Bun B and Pimp C proved they were much more than regional artists when they were recruited by Jay-Z to be on his “Big Pimpin'” single. The song did very well and has become a legendary track.
Late in 2007, Bun B lost his partner, Pimp C, and there has been a void ever since. A resilient person, Bun B has moved forward with his career as a solo artist. Though UGK is down to only one member, Bun B keeps the duo alive through his music and Pimp C’s memory lives on.
Every year, the South by Southwest Festival takes place in Austin, Texas. At SXSW 2013, of course, Bun B was front and center. Fellow Texas hip hop figure, OG Ron C, also was present and in full effect. The two held a conversation about life, family, and of course, the music.
