Making history isn’t anything new to Cardi B, because she spent all of last year doing it. The Bronx rapper actually became known to the world, as an exotic dancer. By 2015, she built a huge social media following and, later that year, joined the “Love & Hip Hop” cast.

Cardi B helped drive a new audience to “Love & Hip Hop” and became an immediate VH1 fan favorite. However, Cardi B announced she would be leaving the show, following her second season. Many people felt that was a bad move, but Cardi B was betting on herself, and it paid off.

Last summer, Cardi B dropped “Bodak Yellow,” and it became the anthem of the year. Since then, she teamed up with Migos and Nicki Minaj for “Motorsport,” which peaked at number six. Now, her newest single, “Bartier Cardi,” featuring 21 Savage, has hit the top ten, whereas “Bodak Yellow” hit number one, making her first three singles all land in Billboard’s top ten, the first time a female has done this since Ashanti, in 2002.
