Understand that it’s never about how a person starts, it’s only about where they end up. In the case of Cardi B, she looked like she’d go the way of most “Love & Hip Hop” stars. But, that was a severe understatement, the game was hers, and has been for some time.
As much as “Love & Hip Hop” helped Cardi B, she also helped the flagship VH1 brand. Dedicated Cardi B fans followed her to the show, which she used to push more music. The consistent work led to a deal and Cardi B gave them a Billboard number one hit.
Cardi B offered “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” and the song took over the second half of the summer. It’s hard to even believe she began 2017 as a part of the “Love & Hip Hop” cast. Tonight, BET crowned Cardi as the Best New Hip Hop Artist, Hustler of the Year, and gave her the Single of the Year.
