Cardi B’s 2020 Chart-Topping “WAP” Single, Featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Wins “Song Of The Year” Award, at #HipHopAwards

The 2021 BET Awards just wrapped up, as there were plenty of solid performances tonight from Nelly, for his I Am Hip-Hop honor, BIA, Latto, Baby Keem, and more.

Cardi B won the award for Best Hip-Hop Video for her 2021 “Up” single, and also got a victory for her 2020 “WAP” single, featuring Megan Thee Stallion. This won in the category for “Song Of The Year,”

WAP was able to beat out Pooh Shiesty’s “Back In Blood” ft. Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch’s “Late At Night,” Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” ft. Lil Durk, Cardi’s own “Up,” and BIA’s “Whole Lotta Money” remix ft. Nicki Minaj. WAP also earned the award for Best Collaboration.

Currently, WAP is 6x platinum in the US. It also originally debuted at number one, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On YouTube, it has accumulated over 421 million views. WAP is also expected to appear on Cardi’s upcoming sophomore album, which has yet to receive a title or release date.
